Manufacturing terminology

Sheetline: The machine’s flat plane of reference

Male mold:
 Molded features above sheetline.

Female mold:
 Molded features below sheetline.

Draft:
The angle of the mold’s sidewalls.

How long have you been in business?

We opened our doors in 1996.

How long will it take for my product to be ready?

We know timeliness is important for our customers to meet deadlines. That’s why we manufacture products with a quick turnaround time.

How does shipping work?

Typically customers arrange their own shipping.

Do you offer design services?

Yes.

Do you do the work in-house?

Yes.

Do you do tooling?

Yes. We also create CAD for tooling.

Tooling design is necessary to create thermoformed parts, but prototyping costs time and money. That’s why it’s important to do thorough planning to avoid unnecessary rounds of prototyping. We use design and CAD/CAM software including Solidworks, Mastercam, and Unigraphics to plan the smart way. This minimized the number of iterations needed to design a successful product.

What is CAD/CAM software (such as Solidworks, Mastercam, and Unigraphics)?

Computer-aided design (CAD) allows engineers to design and predict product outcomes using modeling. The software programs offer structural, thermal, fatigue, and dynamic simulation. In addition, CAD improves the end result in terms of dimensions and material consistency. After a model is created with CAD, our engineers take that model and input the information into computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) for the purpose of controlling the manufacturing process.
